What is Blogging?

Hi All, This will be our first share in Web 2.0 tools which many people have been using for a long time to communicate each other and broadcast news regarding themselves, their work, private life, etc. Blogs have been also a strong tool to use in the field of ELT for a long while. In the wikipedia, the definition of a 'blog' is like as follows: "A blog (a contraction of the term weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

What's in a name?

Yes, we are all aware that the technology in teaching/learning a language is going beyond the computers only. Our students, as digital natives of our age, are more interested in technology than we are. I am already experiencing difficulties in following those gadgets they are playing with, and I feel quite old, to tell the truth. Technology we can use in teaching, it seems, is not limited to computers only nowadays but expands to brilliant iPods, colourful MP3 players, smart 3G phones, etc. They talk about blogs, podcasts, wikis all the time. That's why, I think, we need to change the name 'Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)' to 'Technology Enhanced Language Learning (TELL)' Centers. Here, in this blog, I would like to share some basic information related to the above mentioned innovations, and I am sure you will have more than I can present.
